INNCOM Introduces New Generation Energy Management System for Hotel Rooms
June 1, 1999
Old Lyme, Connecticut - INNCOM International, a global leader in advanced guestroom control systems has introduced thee4TM - a Smart Digital Thermostat with a large backlit display and multiple upgrade features. Thee4 offers precision climate control while saving substantial energy dollars and can be installed in a typical guestroom in under 45 minutes.
The most remarkable attribute of the e4 is that it is very competitively priced with other digital thermostats while offering hoteliers a long list of moderately priced upgrade options. The hotel is able to select those which are best suited to its particular needs.
In its most basic configuration, the e4functions as a high quality DDC thermostat. At its next level, it becomes the brain of a highly effective energy management system (EMS) for guestrooms, putting an end to over-heating and over-cooling. When expanded to its full capabilities, thee4 monitors minibar and electronic safe access, reports room occupancy to housekeeping, and provides automatic remote lighting control, smoke detector annunciation and keys for Do-Not-Disturb and Make-Up-Room requests. It can be controlled remotely by INNCOM's wireless handheld controller, which also controls the TV, lighting and automated drapes.
In EMS mode, the e4 receives continuous inputs from its onboard sensor and INNCOM's wireless door switch. When it determines the guestroom is unoccupied, thee4 allows the temperature to drift up or down within a programmable setback band.
As part of a centrally controlled system connected to INNCOM's low-cost CINET (a centrally connected LAN), substantial additional energy savings are achieved by using a broader setback band when the guestroom is unrented. To achieve this, INNCOM has interfaced with virtually every major property management system (PMS) in the world. (The company has also interfaced with all major BMS, PBX and POS systems.)
In the guestroom, the onboard infrared (IR) transceiver is used both to enable the e4 to be controlled by INNCOM's handheld remote control device and to enable thee4 to automatically control lamps in which INNCOM's IR modules have been installed. The result is low-cost, high-impact amenities, which are remembered by guests. In addition, expander boards can be added to the e4 to receive inputs from balcony doors, minibars, smoke detectors and other in-room appliances.
Installation of the e4 takes minutes per room. The design is ideally suited for retrofit as well as new construction or refurbishment projects.
INNCOM pioneered the development of integrated easy-to-use guestroom control systems and is recognized as the global leader in that discipline. The company is focused solely on the lodging market and is the only company that offers integrated systems combining DDC energy management, on-line lock control and a broad range of other operational and guest interface features.
INNCOM's guestroom base is growing a more that 15,000 rooms per year, domestically and internationally. INNCOM's CEO, Duane Buckingham, stated that, "An R&D team that responds creatively and quickly to ever-expanding market needs coupled with a corporate commitment to customer service and support are key to the company's continued strong growth."
