INNCOM International Announces Exclusive Agreement with Cendant Corporation's Travel Division
March 1, 2001
Old Lyme, CT -- INNCOM International, Inc. announced today an exclusive agreement with Cendant Corporation's Travel Division to offer advanced energy management services to Cendant's 6,441 franchised hotels and 3,400 RCI time-share properties worldwide.
Under the agreement, which is potentially the largest energy management contract of its kind, INNCOM offers Cendant's franchisees a centrally controlled energy management system that adjusts the temperature of unrented and unoccupied guestrooms through an interface with the hotel property management system. The system is designed to save energy without sacrificing the comfort of guests, who can adjust temperature settings as soon as they occupy their rooms.
"Utility savings derived from the INNCOM energy management system will result in significantly lower operating costs, depending on the property's location, its utility rates and occupancy," according to Duane Buckingham, INNCOM's Chief Executive Officer.
"The program will have a positive impact on the operating efficiency of a large number of Cendant brand properties," he said. "It will enhance the comfort of guests staying at those hotels, motels and time-share facilities, as well as have a significant green effect by saving millions of barrels of oil or equivalent energy resources each year."
Craig Hamway, Cendant Senior Vice President, Business Development, said, "the INNCOM program is designed to reduce franchisee utility costs while benefiting the environment. Our agreement with INNCOM exemplifies the type of mutually beneficial relationship we strive to achieve between our franchisees, our vendor partners and Cendant."
INNCOM, headquartered in Old Lyme, Conn., is the global leader in hotel guestroom control systems. Since 1986 it has pioneered the development of systems that integrate energy management, electronic lock control as well as control of lighting, TV, drapes and other guest-room appliances. Many of those systems are based on the company's patented infrared technology.
The Hotel Division of Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD), based in Parsippany, N.J., is the world's largest lodging franchisor with 6,441 hotels representing 539,506 rooms open on five continents under the Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Villager Lodge/Villager PremierSM, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost Inn brands.
Cendant-franchised hotels sell one out of every four economy and mid-priced room nights in the United States, according to Smith Travel Research.
