NEW YORK - IH/M&RS- November 14, 2004 - INNCOM International, the global leader in integrated guestroom control systems, is featuring its new VFD-4™ Variable Speed Fan Drive at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show in Booth No. 3156. The new concept for hotel guestrooms is designed to reduce HVAC noise and enhance dehumidification.
Niantic, CT-based INNCOM developed the VFD-4 in response to requests from hoteliers concerned about HVAC-unit noise that all too often disturbs guests. HVAC units can produce bothersome mechanical noises or create shifts in background noise when fan speeds are changed. The VFD-4 is designed to eliminate all such noises by providing an infinite number of fan speeds, from high to ultra-slow. The unit automatically-and noiselessly-transitions through the entire range of fan speeds, and in addition to virtually eliminating noise, provides the precise amount of air flow to maintain temperature settings. The VFD-4 also is designed to provide a variable fan-speed capability for virtually any HVAC unit.
"Beyond its noise-reduction capabilities, the VFD-4's sub-low fan speed offers a huge benefit to hotels and their guests because it allows for the implementation of de-humidification strategies without affecting the comfort of the guest", said Philipp Roosli, INNCOM's Chief Technology Officer. "Mold-spore growth in hotel guestrooms is a real problem in the lodging industry, and maintaining just the right levels of humidity is a major element in combating the mold-spore problem."
In addition to virtually eliminating HVAC noise and providing enhanced dehumidification capabilities-and thus increasing guest satisfaction and comfort-the VFD-4 Variable Speed Fan Drive offers several other benefits. For instance, because the VFD-4 can run fan motors at optimal-efficiency speeds, energy savings are increased-a major plus given today's high energy costs. Also, the VFD-4 can extend fan-motor life because it requires fewer start-stop and speed-change cycles. Finally, the VFD-4 provides more precise temperature control because it has the capability of making more gradual fan-speed changes to meet heating and cooling demand.
"All of the VFD-4 Variable Speed Fan Drive's benefits further enhance the integrated guestroom controls and energy-management systems that INNCOM designs and manufactures," Roosli said.
